love is eternal

love is eternal
it is a spirit that walks into a room
and pulls separate lives together
separate bodies together
separate experiences together
leaving people in awe of each other

love gathers all the endorphins in your body
and pushes them to the surface
so you glow at the mention of their name
and the world thinks you look so good

love makes us warriors
defending all we know and want to survive
it swims in oozing blood and tear filled eyes
hands that grasp life as a whole
and carries it off to safety
defender of all things sacred
from secrets to transitions
we rock our red uniform and purple heart
into the heavens
because it never dies
it just changes
similar to weather, tides, and moons
the earth’s balance is dependent
on who embraces its changes
and holds tight during storms

do you hear her crying
i hear her crying
do you hear her crying
i hear her crying
a love song that resounds so loud
that the atmosphere turns it into a hum
even when she believes it is a roar
do you hear him crying
i hear him crying
do you hear him crying
i hear him crying
a love song that resounds so loud
that the atmosphere turns it into a hum
even when he believes it is a roar

love is lonely sometimes
as we walk on top of each letter in unrequited
in an attempt to balance
our mind and heart
so that neither comes back broken
some love just takes too long to repair
heal
journey beyond
so we sit in it
and allow the pieces to fall through the separations of our fingers
cutting the hope from our tips so we can’t press on
and move beyond right now

love makes us hope all drama is preparation
that the blood, tears, fights, and change
are all on the path to our bliss
where we lay side by side on summer nights
discovering that ice and skin taste best as a combination
and winter days are when human blankets are warmest
when we are handed the sound of two voices made one
screaming the praises of their journey
a heart beat added to the worlds rhythm
so strong that we never regret our hum
and we hold hands through life
pulling the other out of sadness
out of poverty
out of silence
out of pain
and into freedom
until we are buried together
hoping that time will not forget how we were unified
because we really do need someone else
if life was meant for solitude
we would have been placed here alone
